A thank you letter, from a member of staff, received at Pluscrates Wembley head office prompted a call to Midlands Regional Manager Ian Gilkes.

Recruiting quality staff, training and retaining them is key to Pluscrates remarkable growth since inception in 2008. Promotion from within is self evident through all of its customer service centres and now it seems that good manners and appreciation are also (not surprisingly) flourishing.

Callum Ramsey started work at Pluscrates Nuneaton site in 2009, working in the warehouse, cleaning crates, preparing orders for dispatch, loading and off loading delivery vehicles. His line manager – Ian Gilkes – spotted the potential and two years on, at the tender age of 22, Callum has just passed his LGV Class 2 driving test and now takes to the road behind the wheel of an 18ton Pluscrates HGV vehicle.

A life long Birmingham City fan, Callum says “After winning the Carling Cup in February I didn’t think this year could get much better…but it has. I worked for NEC and in the construction industry before joining Pluscrates and I now can’t imagine working anywhere else. The guys here are great, the customers are great and I can honestly say that I love my job!”

Ian Gilkes adds “Investing in Callum’s training was one of the simplest decisions I’ve had to make since taking up my position at Pluscrates. We have a great team here in Nuneaton, I just wish that more of the lads could see the light and follow the Villa!”
